Particularity and universality: The role of religious and nationality values in the formation of political values of university students

The discourse of Islamism in Indonesia the last ten years has been closely associated with term radical Islam. In previous studies among students, this often contrasted nationality values concerning democracy, tolerance, and support for Unitary State Indonesian Republic (Known as NKRI). This study aimed to find particularity universality individual political university students. research argued that religious become part values. used a quantitative method involving 208 respondents students at state university. data were analysed using cluster discriminant analysis identify discursive conditions generated three clusters. Cluster 1 is tolerant, social media savvy politics, financially unsatisfied. 2 non-political religious. 3 enthusiast, politics. clusters have diversities terms interest use issues activities, However, similarities also shows there relationship between faculty; correlation figures parties.
